Wells Ranch Project
CRWA
CRWA has acquired
from Bexar Metropolitan
Water District the responsibility
to develop the Wells Ranch Project located in Guadalupe and Gonzales Counties. The Phase I project is designed to provide an
additional 5200 acre feet of water to be supplied to Bexar Met, East Central
SUD, Green Valley SUD, City of Cibolo, City of Marion, Springs Hill WSC and
Crystal Clear WSC. The project is
comprised of seven wells drilled into the Carrizo Aquifer drilled on the Wells
Ranch along with a well collection system and treatment facility. In addition 12 miles of water transmission
line and the Leissner Road Booster station is included in the project. The project is funded by 54 million dollars
worth of bonds sold as tax exempt public issue.
Construction has
begun and all wells are in place and being tested. The majority of the collection system is in place and in final phase. Layne Texas
is the well drilling contractor and the collection system is being constructed by Hollman
Construction. The transmission line is awarded to Garney Construction
Company. Leissner Road Booster Station is in construction and
awarded to Payton Construction. The Leissner
Road Booster Station is comprised of a two million gallon per day storage tank
and booster pumps. The station will pump
to the 1518 elevated tank located at 1518 and IH 10.
